About Virtual Towers Online

Virtual Towers Online is a passion project that has been in development for over 10+ years by a very small team. This game is an unofficial, free-to-play, realistic replica of the Alton Towers theme park, created using the Unreal engine. The developers have aimed to make it as close to reality as possible by utilizing architectural plans and thousands of photo references.

Game Features

The game allows players to explore the park, ride, and operate the attractions from anywhere in the world. It features a free-roam mode where players can roam freely around the park, riding and operating some of the available attractions. However, please note that this is an ongoing work-in-progress game, and many features will change over time as new updates are added or existing ones are removed.

Ride Operations

The game includes a key on the maps that shows which rides are available to ride and what kind of operation mode they have. For example, “Nemesis” is fully automatic, allowing players to ride it without interacting with it, or they can take complete control to operate it. On the other hand, “Ripsaw” has only a manual control mode and can be ridden but does not have an auto mode.

Challenges and Future Plans

Despite the best efforts of the development team, there are likely to be bugs within the builds. The game is unoptimized, and it has a long way to go, but it will take time with so few people working on it. The team asks for patience and understanding as they continue to develop the game. The end goal is to have a multi-player environment where users from all over the world can interact with each other throughout the entire park. Players can take on roles at attractions to operate them together, and there will also be a career mode where skills are developed while playing.
