Threads of War combines the classic Battle City gameplay with the dynamic progression of a rogue-lite game. This combination creates a thrilling experience where players must adapt and evolve their strategies to succeed.

The Storyline

Ukraine is under siege by mechanized hordes of dark forces: weak but numerous imps, swift hellhounds, and formidable monsters. Players take on the role of one of the hundreds of thousands of knights of light who have risen to protect their families, homeland, and future. The game portrays the liberation of Ukrainian territories in the first year of the war, from Hostomel to Kherson.

Development and Purpose

Developed by two Ukrainians—a father and son—Threads of War aims to convey the story of Ukraine’s liberation through metaphors, folkloric imagery, and Ukrainian embroidery. The game’s primary focus is on providing an enjoyable gameplay experience, leveraging extensive game development experience (the father is the game designer of Football, Tactics & Glory) to improve outdated Battle City mechanics for modern players.

Philanthropic Efforts

The developers prioritize both gameplay enjoyment and social responsibility. A significant portion of the game’s profit—25%—will be donated to support Ukraine’s armed forces, demonstrating the developers’ commitment to their country and its people during these challenging times.
