This game is a successor to Yu-Gi-Oh 2, a title conceived just over eight months ago. Shortly after releasing Yu-Gi-Oh 2, the developer was inspired by UNICORN OVERLORD, which clarified their design strategy.

The battle system in this game draws inspiration from UNICORN OVERLORD, with mechanics such as “front row/back row” positioning, enemy targeting, battle resources, and skills all influenced by the earlier title. However, there are significant differences, including the shift from unit type affinities (infantry, cavalry, armored) to elemental affinities and the absence of a “gambit” system for customizing unit behavior.

Development and Challenges

The initial plan was to develop the game within a single month (July 2024), but unforeseen chain disasters led to delays. Despite these setbacks, the developer feels that Shin Fangame Tensei is a better game compared to Yu-Gi-Oh 2 in terms of presentation, codebase, and overall fun factor.

As a hobbyist game developer, these fangames serve as essential practice for an original game the developer has been aspiring to create for years. The current project is a stepping stone towards that ultimate goal.

Future Plans and Details

The developer has one more fangame in the pipeline, aiming to build upon this one and test out new ideas. This upcoming release is anticipated for sometime next year.
