Your entire existence has been a part of your pod, living a life of scavenging, hunting, crafting, and guarding alongside your family. The surface dwellers, though often spoken of, are as distant as fiction to you.

But that all changes with a single, fateful event.

The Unexpected Shift

Seized from your pod and thrust into an alien world, you find yourself at the mercy of a mysterious individual with intentions you can barely comprehend. He seeks your magical abilities, posing a threat to your family’s well-being.

The Path Ahead

Your journey now lies at the crossroads of two worlds. You must navigate this new reality or risk losing everything you hold dear.

Interactive Fiction Novel

From the Depths is an 18+ interactive fiction novel, created in Twine using Sugarcube. It warns of content that includes blood and gore, animal death in historical contexts (starting around chapter 3, skippable), death and murder (including those responsible for animal death), and sexual content (skippable). These warnings will be updated in the future.

Features

Players can choose to play as a male, female, or nonbinary main character (cis or trans). They can customize their appearance and personality and decide how to navigate their new role in the human world.

Romance Options

The game offers two gender-selectable romance options: the determined guardian of your pod or the idealistic princep. Alternatively, players can choose neither or both options, adding a layer of complexity to their journey.

Customizing Your Pod

Players can select from five customizable options for their pod, each with two unique traits to aid them on their journey.

Language and Discovery

Players can learn the human language or force humans to adapt to their own ways. This dynamic adds an element of unpredictability to their interactions.

The Quest Ahead

The game unfolds as players uncover the truth about why they were taken from their family and decide whether to find their way back or build a new life on the shore.

Characters

Key characters include:

Llyr – A gender-selectable character (he/him, she/her, or xe/xem) who joined your pod a year ago after their own pod was scattered. Llyr has taken on a guardian role with dedication and pride. Their relationship with you is complex, ranging from indifference to friendship or deeper connections.

Nakia – The crown princep in the human country. Nakia is idealistic and hopeful, eager to learn about your strange ways and bridge the gap between your worlds. Despite the gender option chosen, Nakia remains transgender.

Future characters will be introduced to enrich the narrative further.
