Cavalier is a single-player, hand-drawn Metroidvania game. Combat enchanted creatures while exploring the expanding map, and restore the magical kingdom in this charming medieval adventure.

The Quest Begins

When the King and all his people disappear, his favorite puppy, Humphrey, becomes the Kingdom’s only hope. Empowered with a golden sword, Humphrey must explore beyond the kingdom walls to find his long-lost royal owner. However, the land is riddled with enchanted enemies, so Humphrey will have to level up fast to succeed.

Explore and Restore a Spellbound Kingdom

Cavalier is an open platformer/Metroidvania, challenging but never too punishing. You’ll want to cuddle your controller, not throw it against the wall. It’s a story-driven experience that also allows for and rewards exploration. A handcrafted, living cartoon that touches on silliness but always defaults to heart and story.

Handcrafted World

Everything in the King’s land is hand drawn, so it’s like playing your way through a nostalgic animated film. The colors are bright and cheery, but that doesn’t mean Humphrey’s journey won’t be treacherous. The palace walls and rolling hills are crawling with inanimate objects brought to life, including fire-spitting lanterns, stained glass knights, and venomous snapping plants.

Combat and Exploration

Weapons range from your initial golden sword to a woodman’s axe, a heavy grandhammer, and a bowcaster for ranged combat. Each weapon not only brings the boom but also allows you to access new areas and smash various obstacles. The King’s obsession with digging up dragon bones is a dark secret that sends shivers up Humphrey’s fluffy spine.

The King’s Legacy

The King was a complex character before he vanished. He loved his people and his puppy above all else, but he also had a dangerous fascination with long-forgotten magic. This history is being rapidly uncovered in recent years, revealing the truth of your beloved King/owner and leading to some grand revelations.
