Annihilator is an intense top-down shooter designed for the Game Boy Color. The game follows the journey of Shinryu, an ex-marine who has become an activist fighting against a ruthless corporate system known as CRUSH. This entity manufactures enhanced soldiers from both the living and the dead, targeting individuals like Shinryu and their families. The corporation’s relentless pursuit has left Shinryu with a burning desire for revenge.

Gameplay Features

The game is set in a dystopian future where the rights to one’s own body are nonexistent. The weak and sick are exploited by the corporate machine, and even after death, their bodies are reused for products, services, and war. Shinryu must navigate through challenging environments, using various skills to overcome obstacles. The gameplay includes:

– B [Z]: Shoot

– A [X]: Dodge

– Select [SHIFT]: Use item

– Arrow Keys: Move

– Options:

– Cutscenes: Toggle cutscenes on or off to enhance the gaming experience.

– Mode:

– 1 – Easy: Rooms clear, enemies guaranteed to drop hearts, and you gain 1 health when entering a new room.

– 2 – Normal: Rooms clear, but enemy drops are uncertain.

– 3 – Hard: Rooms do not clear, and enemies do not drop hearts.

The Annihilator demo offers a glimpse into the gritty world of this full-fledged game scheduled for release in Q1 2024.
